Ben Jacobson’s New Deal

UNI head coach Ben Jacobson agrees to a new 10-year contract with the Panthers. Northern Iowa Sports Information Director Colin McDonough confirmed the deal to channel 13.

The contract runs through 2025. UNI did not disclose financial terms yet, but should by the end of the week. Jacobson currently makes around $600,000 a year.

Jacobson has shown himself to be the rare coach who is not interested in moving to a school that can double or even triple his salary.

This year Jacobson coach UNI to 31 wins, an MVC tourney title, and a 5 seed in NCAA tournament. UNI beat Wyoming before losing to Louisville.

In 2010, Jacobson signed a 10-year deal after UNI shocked the basketball world by taking down #1 Kansas in the NCAA tournament. ┬áHe signed for 10 more years in 2013. And now ten more…
