DES MOINES, Iowa – The victim and two witnesses of a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon have provided further information about the incident.
The victim, Dan Bach, lives at 1414 21st Street where the shooting occurred and stated he heard gunshots outside his home. A bullet entered his house and shattered his living room window, hitting the wall facing the kitchen area where his family was located. Two gold .380 caliber shells were also found on the driveway south of the house, according to a Des Moines Police Department report.
One of the witnesses, Ramzy Abdel, owns the local Drake Super Market located at 2101 Forest Avenue. The other witness was sitting in a car in front of a house nearby.
Abdel stated he heard shots fired and looked out his door from the super market and saw a group of black men with several guns arguing by a red 2004-05 red Pontiac. He witnessed the group of men shoot their guns into the air. The store owner said he should have video evidence of the shooting from his camera mounted on the east side of the super market, and will have a tape made for the Des Moines Police Department.
The group of men took off running north on 21st Street and the car went westbound on Forest Avenue, according to Abdel.
The other witness similarly observed several men near 21st Street and Forest Avenue arguing. The witness also saw one of the men pull out a silver handgun and watched him shoot several rounds, but wasn’t sure which direction the male was shooting.
The reporting officer on the shooting was not available for a statement and no arrests have been made.
