DES MOINES, Iowa -- Hy-Vee will begin building a new store located in downtown Des Moines this summer.
According to the Des Moines Register, the building will be located at 420 Court Avenue and construction will begin in August.
Members of Des Moines Urban Design Review Board have questioned several aspects of the store's design, including loading docks along Fifth Avenue.
The board would ideally want trucks to be hidden from view, but Hy-Vee officials say they can't reconfigure the loading dock without redesigning the entire project.
Hy-Vee is partnering with Knapp Properties and OPN Architects to build a four-story, mixed-use building.
The 35,000 square foot building will have the grocery store, along with apartments and a parking garage.
The $30 million dollar project is expected to be completed by November of 2016.
