GARNER, Iowa -- A verdict has yet to be reached in the sexual abuse trial of former state lawmaker Henry Rayhons.

The 78-year old is accused of having sex with his wife at a nursing home last May, despite being told that her dementia made her unable to consent to it.

Rayhons is being charged with felony sex abuse.

After being handed the case on Monday, the jurors deliberated all day on Tuesday without reaching a verdict.

Deliberations will resume Wednesday morning. Rayhons faces ten years in prison if convicted.
