Des Moines Police Investigating Family Dollar Robbery

DES MOINES, IOWA – Authorities are investigating a robbery at a south side store.

At approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, two men wearing hoodies robbed the Family Dollar store located at 3915 SW Ninth Street, according to the Des Moines Police Department.

One of the suspects displayed a shotgun with the handle cut down, and the other was carrying a wooden stick to threaten employees.

The suspect with the gun pointed it at a clerk and a customer. The other man swung his stick around, hitting the cash register, and ordered a clerk to fill his bag with money.

The men took off on foot eastbound with the money.

Officers reviewed surveillance video and noticed a third suspect stayed outside of the store as a lookout.

No injuries were reported and police are working to release pictures of the suspects.
