DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Drake Relays favorite and Des Moines-native has pulled out of this year’s event because of an injury.

Hurdler Lolo Jones won’t compete in the event, where she was scheduled to run the 100 meter hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay.

Jones posted a video on Facebook discussing the difficult decision.

Drake Relays director Brian Brown released a statement Wednesday saying, “Lolo contacted me on Tuesday evening to notify that she would be unable to compete due to a minor injury suffered during her workouts leading up to the Drake Relays. It’s unfortunate that she can’t compete this weekend, but we hope to have her back on the Blue Oval in 2016.”

Lolo is ranked 3rd in the world in the 100 meter hurdles.
