DES MOINES, Iowa -- Two lucky Iowans are driving away in a new set of wheels that they won in a Twitter contest.
The contest asked, “Who inspires you, who moves you, who matters most to you.”
Mitchell Timm and Megan Fick were chosen from about 50,000 entries across the country. Both won a 2015 Volvo XC60 and picked up their new cars at Willis Auto Campus today.
“When you get in, it's like you don`t ever want to get out. My butt might be permanently plastered in this car from now on,” Fick said.
The 31-year-old is a nurse from St. Marys. She works with children who are emotionally disturbed and logs plenty of miles in the car.
“They said your entry has been picked, chosen and it’s like you’re kidding,” described mom Michelle Fick.
Fick entered her daughter in the contest during the Super Bowl. Every time another car commercial ran, viewers would tweet the name of the person they thought deserved a new Volvo.
“I`m definitely his favorite sister now, he's confirmed that,” joked Anna Jones.
Jones tweeted her brother’s name during the game, but never expected he would win.
“That's kind of incredible that someone wants to give me a car for an idea I had,” said Timm, a recent graduate from the University of Iowa.
The 21-year-old from Des Moines has an idea to travel across the country to help others find work. He says his goal is to give people a chance to help themselves.
Timm and Fick also received a check to cover the taxes on their new cars. A total of five winners were chosen. The other three are from Florida and Pennsylvania.
