NEWTON, Iowa — The fate of a Prairie City woman has been turned over to a jury.
Jena Wright is charged with child endangerment, neglect, and assault of a peace officer. She faces up to 35 years in prison.
Police say Wright’s dog Brutis, attacked and killed four-year-old Jordyn Arndt while Wright was babysitting her in April of 2013. Arndt died from her injuries the day after the attack
The prosecution called witnesses to testify for three days, while the defense spent just one day calling people to the stand.
The jury was handed the case Wednesday afternoon and deliberated for several hours before going home for the day.]
Jurors resumed deliberating Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.
