DES MOINES, Iowa – Former Democratic lawmaker Ed Fallon was arrested Monday.

Fallon was arrested for refusing to leave the Statehouse when it closed at 5 p.m.

He was demanding to speak with Governor Branstad about the proposed Bakken oil pipeline. The pipeline would stretch diagonally across Iowa for the purpose of carrying oil from North Dakota to Illinois.

Fallon opposes the project and wants lawmakers to restrict the use of eminent domain to acquire land for the pipeline.

He's been charged with criminal trespassing.
