BURLINGTON, Iowa –The body of a missing boater has been recovered.

The body of 33-year-old Christopher Corson of Burlington was found shortly before 11:30 a.m. Monday. He’d been missing since Sunday afternoon following a boating incident, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Corson and 30-year-old Anthony Zurmuehlen of Burlington were originally fishing below a roller dam at Lock and Dam 18 on Sunday. Their small jon boat ended up being pulled under the dam and rolled over.

Zurmuehlen was able to work his way to shore after grabbing on to a log and other debris below the roller dam. He was eventually discovered by Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Paul Kay around 3 p.m.

Zurmuehlen was taken to Great River Medical Center and later released without any injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
