DYERSVILLE, Iowa – The plans to expand the Field of Dreams site in Iowa are moving forward.

A Chicago developer has plans to build a youth sports complex around the iconic field.

However, a group of residents that were unhappy about the plan to expand took the city to court, claiming city leaders illegally rezoned the land for the project.

City officials voted to change the land from agricultural property to commercial ground back in 2012.

On May 21, District Court Judge Thomas Bittner ruled the Dyersville City Council acted reasonably when it rezoned the area.

The project would eventually add 24 baseball diamonds around the field used for the 1989 classic Kevin Costner film.

An attorney for the coalition of residents said the group will appeal the official lower court ruling.
