DES MOINES, Iowa -- Friday will kickoff the first time Wizard World's Comic Con has been to Des Moines and big crowds are expected to attend.

"Thousands, thousands are expected to attend," said Jerry Milani, Wizard World Comic Con. "We sold out of the three-day passes three weeks ago."

Miliani said they started to look at Des Moines as a possible destination last year.

"We sent out scouts last year and when they got here they were greeted by zombies running around," says Milani. "We knew after that we needed to come here."

Fans can expect a variety of events during the weekend like panels, merchandise, memorabilia, and meet-and-greets with celebrities. One big guest will be the original Hulk, Lou Ferrigno.

"They are excited to talk about the Hulk," said Ferrigno. "It's amazing."

Ferrigno said his fans are very passionate and he is asked to sign all kinds of things.

"You name it and I've signed it," says Ferrigno. "People have me sign body parts and they will get tattoos of it."

He has been in the spotlight for four decades and is excited to connect with new fans because of his role with Cartoon Network's Adventure Time.

"Kids love Adventure Time. I played the Billy, the old warrior," says Ferrigno. "I am amazed how many will bring the comic books for me to sign."
