DES MOINES, Iowa- Visitors to the Iowa State Fair will see a new addition by the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building.  The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation is raising money for the Ruan Plaza to connect the Grand Concourse, to the Richard O. Jacobson Center.

The pedestrian-friendly concourse will greet visitors south and east of the Varied Industries Building.

The area will also host vendors and exhibitors to the Fair. It will eventually extend all the way to Gate 10.

The Iowa Blue Ribbon Foundation has raised over $4 Million for improvements to the Fairgrounds.

The organization will be holding its big fund raising event called the Corn Dog Checkoff on July 11th. Last year that event drew 1800 people and raised a record $424,000 according to a Blue Ribbon Foundation news release.

The Iowa State Fair runs August 13-23, this year.
