Car Goes Through Fence, Hits Gas Line in West Des Moines

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – One person was sent to the hospital after a vehicle went through a fence and hit a gas line on Wednesday morning.

According to MidAmerican Energy, a call came in to them around 10:15 a.m. reporting that someone had gone through a fence just north of the 50th Street and EP True Parkway intersection. After going through the fence, the car hit a gas line and was resting against the gas line in a ditch.

Two people were in the car, and paramedics took one to the hospital. No word on what cause the driver to run off the road, according to the West Des Moines Fire Department.

MidAmerican Energy has a service person at the site of the incident trying to control a small gas leak that was caused by the crash. 50th Street is also back open now after being temporarily closed in the area.

There are no reports of any customers being out of service.  No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with gas.

The incident is still under investigation.
