Fort Madison Prison Escapee Back in Custody

FORT MADISON, Iowa — A man who escaped from the more than century old Fort Madison Prison is back in custody.

Prison officials say 25-year-old Justin Kestner disappeared from Fort Madison around 4:45 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities found him several hours later in Geneseo, Illinois.

Kestner has been serving a 10 year prison sentence related to two charges of theft in Woodbury County.

How Kestner escaped is still under investigation.
