Two Injured in Stabbing at Grimes Campground

GRIMES, Iowa – Two people were injured following a stabbing at a Grimes campground early Sunday morning.

Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stabbing at Cutty’s Campground, 2500 SE 37th Street, at about 12:35 a.m. Sunday.

When deputies arrived they found two men suffering from cuts and stab wounds.

Witnesses said there was an altercation involving several men, including one who had a knife. The witnesses said the suspect assaulted the two men with the knife by cutting one and stabbing the other, according to Major Brent Long of the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, Justin Jones, 35, of Clive, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon causing bodily injury.

The two victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jones is currently in the Polk County Jail.
