WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Zombies invaded Jordan Creek Town Center on Sunday to welcome a popular East Village restaurant to the food court.

The mural and design of the new Zombie Burger in West Des Moines is based off of the movie, "Dawn of the Dead."

Mural artist, Ron Wagner says the design took a few months to complete.

“It’s super exciting for me,” Wagner said. “I’m glad to be asked to do this again and it’s a great calling card for me because I just ask people if they’ve been to Zombie Burger and right away they know whether they’ve seen my work or not. I just hope it’s just as successful as the one downtown."

About 100 people dressed up as the dead attended the soft launch opening. Each one of them got a free  burger and fries.

The restaurant’s owner says the menu will feature popular items from the East Village location. He added that he's is excited to expand the zombie eating experience to those in the suburbs.

“Even on a warm summer day I was like how many people are going to come out and want to dress up in zombie make up, George Formaro, owner of Zombie Burger said.  I was really encouraged; it shows how enthusiastic people are going to be about us coming out here.

The restaurant officially opens on Wednesday.
