Sexual Abuse Case Lands Former Knoxville Teacher in Prison

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — A former Knoxville teacher and coach has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

According to online court records, Troy Rider accepted a plea agreement and had two counts of third degree sexual abuse dismissed.

He pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation by a teacher and sexual exploitation by a school employee. He was accused of sexually abusing a 15 year old student in March of last year.

Rider resigned from his teaching position shortly after his arrest.
