Arrest Made Following Cedar Rapids Chase

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids woman was taken into custody Tuesday night after a police chase.

According to KWWL, a Linn County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the vehicle 39-year-old Melissa Bidwell was driving Tuesday night after receiving a report of a suspicious person in the 7500 block of 42nd Street NE.

Bidwell refused to stop and sped away from the deputy, pulling on to I-380. The pursuit ended when she pulled into the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room parking lot.

Bidwell was arrested and is facing several traffic violations. She is being held in the Linn County Jail.
