AMES, Iowa – Iowa State fans had the chance to meet and receive autographs from their favorite Iowa State football players at Cyclone Fan Fest on Sunday.
The Cyclone players were also able to get a break from two-a-day practices and enjoy their Sunday with fans at Hilton Coliseum.
With ISU’s first game just 13 days away, the cardinal and gold faithful are excited for the upcoming season.
“I feel like this is going to be a good season, we really need a good one so I don’t know, just got the spirit I guess,” said Cyclone fan Megan Petermeier.
“A bowl game would be great, I don’t know if they’ll get there it’s a tough schedule again,” said Cyclone fan Steve Faber. “If they can get to five wins I’d be ecstatic. If they can show improvement I’ll be happy.”
After winning only one game at Jack Trice last season, Iowa State expects to sell out the first two games, which hasn’t gone unnoticed.
“After the last two seasons, and you still see the same amount of fans selling out the games that’s crazy,” said senior wide receiver Quenton Bundrage. “It just shows how much courage and hope they have for the team.”
“Our fans are fantastic and this will be no different they are ready to pack the stadium,” said ISU Athletic Director Jamie Pollard. “The first two games will be great sellouts. With this event today, you just see the number of kids with smiles on their faces and it’s a great reminder of what we do.”
Iowa State’s season opener is at home Sept. 5 against Northern Iowa at 7 p.m. Iowa State has lost the last two home openers.
