DES MOINES, Iowa -- The final day of the 2015 Iowa State Fair wrapped up under blue skies and cool breezes.
Sunday was a day for STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math). Students had displays featuring robot games. Oscar the Robot, who has been wandering the State Fair, also joined in to guide young students to check out the STEM tent.
"It's a lot of us coming together to build this robot and play a game, its just a lot of fun," said Evan Williams of Ballard Huxley.
The students meet for robotic competitions throughout the year. Sunday was more of a show and tell event. Some 20 exhibitors showed how students could get involved in STEM.
Up at Pioneer Hall, mothers and daughters gathered for the annual look-alike contest. Some dressed alike, some had the hair or other accessories the same. The winner was Missy Seivert, and her daughter Katie Seivert, of Granger.
"Over the last few years several people said we looked a lot more alike than we realized," said Missy. "About eight months ago, she got glasses, and I said, oh my goodness, I have the same glasses, and we decided maybe we look a little more alike than we realized."
"I think if I look that good when I'm her age, I'll be pretty lucky," said daughter Katie.
