Lutheran Church of Hope Expanding With Campus on the Move

WAUKEE, Iowa -- A little less than a year ago, Hope Waukee began gathering for worship at Shuler Elementary, but now the Church has announced that it will soon move to a new campus. The Church will moving to where Point of Grace currently is at 305 NE Dartmoor Drive.

Lutheran Church of Hope is buying the building from Point of Grace, and will move into the space as of Oct. 1. More than 400 people have been worshiping at Shuler Elementary every weekend, but the new campus will provide enough space for 700 people to worship.

Thousands of people showed up for the "Back to School Bash" at the Waukee High School football stadium on Sunday. More than 30,000 people attended Easter Services at Lutheran Church of Hope this year, and since its humble beginnings 20 years ago, the Church has experienced tremendous growth.

In talking about the growth the Church has experienced over the years, Lutheran Church of Hope Executive Pastor Jeremy Johnson told Channel 13 News, "All the people who are a part of Hope are a part of this vision that God `s called us to, and the vision is to reach out to the world around us and share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ. We say it here all the time, we exist to try to make Heaven more crowded."

Lutheran Church of Hope is already one of the fastest growing churches in the country, and it continues to grow. The body of believers that comprise the Church is already over 10,000 strong. Pastor Johnson says the Church started off small but took off quickly after that. Lutheran Church of Hope gathers for worship in various locations, including West Des Moines, Des Moines, Ankeny, Johnston-Grimes, and Waukee.
