There was more than enough rain last week to help out the dry north parts of Iowa, bumping up subsoil moisture levels up 10 points to 89 percent adequate to surplus according to the Iowa Crop Progress report.
Eighty-nine percent of the corn crop is at the dough stage with 34 percent of that in the dent stage or beyond. A few reports of corn reaching maturity were sent in. Corn condition in Iowa is rated 82 percent good to excellent.
Soybean blooming is near completion this week and 90 percent of beans have set pods with a few reports of coloring. Soybean condition is rated 77 percent good to excellent.
