BONDURANT, Iowa - Looking for some Labor Day Weekend fun with the family? Look no further than Geisler Farms in Bondurant.
The farm, celebrating its 10th year in business, offers a corn maze among other fun attractions. But 10 years ago, when it all started, owner Malinda Geisler says it wasn't so expansive.
"When we opened in 2005, which actually corresponded with Hurricane Katrina, we had a little garden shed for admissions, and we had a corn field, and that is all we had here at the corn maze," she said.
A new feature offered this year is the jump pad - a giant, inflated trampoline for kids to jump on. There's also a double-tubed slide to race down, as well as bikes and a race-track.
This year's corn maze design celebrates the Geisler farm reaching Century Farm status - meaning it's been in the same family name for a hundred years. Geisler says the design reflects a family heirloom she received from her great-grandmother.
"The barn quilt that we featured in our corn maze is a double-wedding ring design," she said. "And legend has it, it was popular in the Great Depression, and it was commonly given as a wedding gift or as an anniversary gift."
Admission is $8 per person, and kids aged two and under get in for free. Beginning next weekend, you can come pick a pumpkin from the farm's field, without needing to pay admission.
