CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- An Iowa sailor, who sacrificed his arms and legs in Afghanistan, is giving back to his community that has been a major help over the years.

Taylor Morris of Cedar Falls lost portions of all of his limbs due to an IED explosion back in 2012. Ever since the incident, his community has rallied around him. They’ve raised money for him through a number of events, including a 5k race being held Friday.

At the race, which is called the Glow Stick 5k, Morris and his fiancé Danielle Kelly are returning the favor by giving all of the proceeds to someone else in need.

“We wanted to showcase other individuals, nonprofits, businesses, within the community that are inspirational," Kelly said.

"We had just an unbelievable amount of support and we kind of realized the power of that," Morris said.

The recipient of the proceeds will be announced at the race, which is Friday at 8:30 p.m.
