The new farm bill safety net program process isn't over yet, farmers still have to enroll into the Price Loss Coverage (PLC) or Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) programs. And the deadline is less than a month away.

USDA Farm Service Agency director Val Dolcini says the process started about a year ago for farmers, "In the spring we asked them to elect one of those programs and now we're doing the final 'e', which is enrollment, and o farmers are coming in around the nation to sign their programs. Designating their election they made earlier in the year, whether it was ARC, or ARC county, or the PLC program. And that process will continue until the 30th of September. That's the deadline, and those choices will last for the life of this farm bill which will expire in 2018."
