Man Charged in Des Moines Shooting Death

DES MOINES, Iowa - Police have made an arrest following a shooting death in Des Moines on Friday.

On Tuesday, Des Moines police announced Michael Allen Cason, Jr., 21, of Des Moines, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Trenton Washington.

Officers say at 9:28 p.m. Friday, a call was made about a shooting on the 1200 block of Sampson Street. Upon arrival, officers say they found the victim, 22-year-old Trenton Washington of Des Moines, near a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. Washington was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment, where he later died.

An investigation into the homicide is ongoing.
