HUXLEY, Iowa- Residents of Huxley no longer have long detours when leaving town. The DOT has reopened Highway 69 between Ames and Huxley.
The road has been closed since May so a $5.9 million dollar road resurfacing project could take place.
Some minor work has yet to be completed, so drivers may find some delays, but the road is open.
Highway 69 between Ankeny, and Huxley were also closed earlier in the summer, that route opened up in August.
Those who live in Huxley said that getting to Ames meant driving east to Cambridge, and then north, or driving west to Slater, then north to Ames.
