POLK COUNTY, Iowa — A semi went up in flames Thursday morning after running off the interstate.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. The truck was traveling eastbound on I-80 when it went off the road and hit a tree near mile marker 150.

The front of the vehicle caught fire but the driver was able to escape without any injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol is looking into what caused the semi to crash.
