BOONE, Iowa- GOP Presidential Candidate Donald Trump will make a big weekend in Boone, even bigger. The Boone Pufferbilly Days Celebration, along with the Boone Super Nationals car races will draw 10-15,000 people to town.

The Trump visit is expected to add a few more.

“The minute we were notified there was a potential visit with Mr. Trump we started to get our logistics crew together,” said Kurt Phillips, Executive Director of the Boone Chamber of Commerce. “We needed to decide how we would handle the potentially large crowds that are following him.”

Trump will speak in the Entertainment Area right by the railroad tracks, just west of downtown Boone, where the food and carnival area is set up.

The Boone Chamber of Commerce is welcoming all who want to come to see Trump. They do want to advise people, most parking will be on-street, and visitors should be prepared to walk.

“We want you to understand we do have some basic instructions online at our website,” said Phillips. “It is a street festival, we close off a lot of streets, there is a little bit of walking that’s going to be involved to get to the main festival area.”

A large parade will kick off through town at 9:30. Trump is scheduled to speak at noon.

The Boone Chamber advises people coming into town do so from the east or west, and not use south Story Street as a way into town. Here is a page with maps with direction
