Popular Herbicide Safe For Aquatic Plants

A popular herbicide used to control weeds in corn and caused concern for the Environmental Protection Agency was found to not have long-term measurable impacts on aquatic plant life.
In a Baylor University study, Atrazine, a product of Syngenta, did not appear to hurt plants in water.
Researchers looked at Atrazine levels in agriculture areas during rainfall runoff events and found there was only a temporary effect on a dozen different biological response variables. Most of which recovered.
The study's lead investigator says only two response variables were affected after a recovery period but those were unlikely to be ecologically significant.
