AMES, Iowa- The Ames Police Department is advising people coming to the big Cy-Hawk game to remember to park legally when they arrive.

“Unfortunately the thing we see is it is cheaper to get a parking ticket..than to pay to park in some of the ISU lots,” said Commander Jason Tuttle of the Ames Police Department. “So we will be out ticketing people.”

Tuttle reminds people to be courteous if they are parking in a residential neighborhood. He also says after the game, people need to be patient.

“This last weekend we had several accidents on highway 30, which caused backups all the way back to the stadium,” said Tuttle. “We want people to be patient to drive carefully. Look out for pedestrians and bicyclists who may be using the road before..and after the game.”

Tuttle said another concern after the game is alcohol.

“We want people to be safe, we want people to have a good time, we also will be out there and we will be enforcing any open container violations that we see..any type of intoxication issues.”
