Police Searching for Person of Interest in Des Moines Homicide

DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a person of interest in a Des Moines shooting.

The man police are searching for is 29-year-old Carl Allen West of Des Moines. He is currently wanted on an unrelated parole violation warrant. He should be considered armed and dangerous, according to Des Moines police.

West is 5’9’’ and weighs 150 pounds. He also has multiple tattoos and usually wears prescription glasses.

The homicide occurred on on Des Moines' east side Friday night. Just before 6 p.m., police were called to a shooting at 4111 Dubuque Street.

Police say 28-year-old Matt Cizek was shot in the chest while standing in his front yard. He was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center where he later died.
