DES MOINES, Iowa – Have the time of your life with some dirty dancing in Des Moines this week.

Des Moines Performing Arts is hoping you will, at least. Dirty Dancing opened at the Civic Center this week and has shows through the weekend.  The classic story, brought to life on stage, features a live band as part of the cast, 80’s music, and of course, a lot of dancing.

“I don’t describe this show as a musical, as much as I’d say it’s a play with live music and dancing,” said Gillian Abbott, who portrays Baby. “This show is such a collaboration between the audience and the cast; the audience feeds off our energy as so many of them remember the film and get so excited when they see the scenes come to life on stage. And we feed off their energy as we’re up on stage providing them that experience.”
