OTTUMWA, Iowa — An Ottumwa man is behind bars following an investigation into a shooting Wednesday.

Twenty-one-year-old Kortez Jackson is facing a charge of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony.

The Ottumwa Police Department says it received a report that someone had been shot in the 600 block of East Court Street around 1:16 Wednesday afternoon. The shooting victim was located at 609 North Green Street and taken to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told officers someone had fired several shots from an older white Mustang and drove away. The suspect vehicle was located in the 500 block of East Court Street and officers were able to link the driver of the car to the home at 748 North Jefferson Street.

A search warrant was issued for the home and police say they found evidence linked to the shooting inside that resulted in the arrest of Jackson.
