DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa’s State of Obesity Report is out and it shows 30.9-percent of Iowans are overweight or obese.
That makes Iowa the state with the 16th highest obesity rate in the country.
Fifteen-years ago Iowa’s rate was 20.9-percent and in 1990 it was just 12.2-percent.
Iowa is among 22 states with obesity rates of more than 30-percent. Three states — Arkansas, West Virginia, and Mississippi — have rates over 35-percent.
Colorado has the lowest obesity rate with 21.3-percent.
