DES MOINES, Iowa — National politics will soon be part of the Downtown Farmers’ Market.
Organizers say they’re offering presidential candidates and their campaigns the opportunity to speak at the market. A program called Breakfast, Produce, and Politics will give candidates the chance to speak to the market crowd for up to an hour. It will be similar to the Des Moines Register’s Soap Box at the Iowa State Fair.
Campaigns can also schedule to set up booths and distribute information to potential voters.
The Downtown Farmers’ Market will display the schedule of candidates on its website once they are confirmed.
The market runs every Saturday through Oct. 31s. The hours are 7:00 a.m. to noon and in October the opening time for the market pushes back an hour to 8:00 a.m.
