Huxley Officer Assaulted Outside of Bar Saturday Night

CAMBRIDGE, Iowa – A Huxley police officer is recovering after authorities say he was assaulted outside of a bar on Saturday night.

42 year-old Craig Hilgenberg of Cambridge was arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and interference with official acts.

The officer was originially called to the Water Street Bar and Grill to remove Hilgenberg.

However, Hilgenberg began to resist arrest and then assaulted the officer. The officer had to use a taser to get Hilgenberg under control, according to police.

The officer was treated at an area hospital and is OK.
