DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines police are investigating a report of shots fired on the edge of Drake University’s campus Sunday night.

Police say it happened around 9:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of 22nd Street. The suspect vehicle stopped in the 1100 block of 23rd and two suspects got away on foot. Police say no shell casings were found and they also didn’t find any damage.

The shots fired report triggered a Bulldog Alert for Drake students, warning them to stay inside.

Police say they have increased patrols in the area, just as they do when crime spikes in any area of the city.

This is the third shooting investigation in the area since September 11th. That’s when a double homicide happened just a few blocks away. Another report of shots fired happened last Sunday in the 3000 block of Forest, which also caused a Bulldog Alert to be sent to Drake students.
