DES MOINES, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie heads to Des Moines Tuesday for what he calls a big announcement.

Tuesday morning he’s holding a special event at the State Historical Museum. It is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

The New Jersey governor is expected to get a series of endorsements there, one from businessman Gary Kirke and the other from Iowa Board of Regents president Bruce Rastetter.

You may remember Kirke and Rastetter were part of a group of people who flew to New Jersey in 2011 trying to convince Christie to run for president in 2012. The meeting did not change Christie’s mind, he opted to stay out of the presidential race.

Christie’s poll numbers are about three-percent nationally and only about one-percent in Iowa.
