CHEROKEE, Iowa — Iowa farmers may find out Thursday whether they’re at risk for losing their land through eminent domain.

Thursday a hearing will bring answers about the Bakken oil pipeline. The company Dakota Access wants to build the pipeline to pump oil through 18 Iowa counties.

Getting the land it needs to do that means seizing the land of property owners who don’t want to sell. They hope to use eminent domain to get the land.

The hearing in the Cherokee County District Court will determine whether they can.
