REDFIELD, Iowa – A lingering issue in Redfield is going to get worse before it gets better.
"It smells like sewer, you know septic sewer is what it smells like,” said a resident.
“It smells like sulfur, maybe like backup sewer. It`s kind of a distinct odor. It smells pretty bad,” said another resident.
The source of the smell is a leaking tank at the Feed Energy plant outside of Redfield.
This week, the company is starting the process of pumping out the tank. They say is could make the smell worse until the cleanup is complete.
Feed Energy is sending a personalized letter to everyone in town apologizing for the problem.
