AMES, Iowa - Iowa State University head football coach Paul Rhoads announced Monday that Mark Mangino is out as offensive coordinator. Rhoads would not elaborate other than to say he and Mangino have not been on the same page.

Rhoads declined to say if Mangino resigned or was fired. Rhoads did say that Mangino didn't like changes that were being made.

Rhoads also named Ankeny's Joel Lanning the starting quarterback Monday after Lanning clearly outplayed Sam Richardson at Baylor. Many fans thought Lanning should have previously been named starter.

Todd Sturdy is taking over as offensive coordinator.

Mark Mangino's son, Tommy, remains as a member of Iowa State's coaching staff.
