Police Chase Ends When Car Crashes Into Garage

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Des Moines man is in the Polk County Jail following a chase with Des Moines police Sunday night.

22-year-old Brandon St. Peter is facing charges of second degree theft, interference with official acts, and operating while intoxicated.

Police say St. Peter was driving a stolen Chrysler 300 and led police on a chase that ended near the intersection of Ovid and Second Avenue around 9:30 p.m. The car left the roadway, hit a utility pole, and then crashed into a garage.

St. Peter told authorities he had used drugs on Sunday including marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy.

St. Peter is being held on a bond of $6,300.
