Search for missing boater on Mississippi River continues.

SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — Officers with the Iowa and Illinois DNR are continuing the search for a missing boater.

They say the 50-year old man fell off a boat and into the Mississippi River Saturday night near the town of Buffalo. That’s about 15 minutes southwest of Davenport.

Officers conducted extensive searches Sunday using sonar, but were unsuccessful.

“Tomorrow we’ll have someone on the water all day long pretty much doing searches and then we will continue throughout the week as we can with searches. It`s hard to pull man power to run eight hour shift every day,” says Anthony Petreikis with the Illinois DNR.

Police say several other people were on the boat but none of them saw the man fall in. They have yet to say what caused the accident or whether alcohol was factor.
