Ames Girls Dominate at State Swimming

MARSHALLTOWN - For the 5th time in the last 6 years the Ames Little Cyclones are girls state swimming champs.

Ames dominated and won by 158 1/2 points.  It was a full team effort from Ames, winning 3 relays.  Sophie Sorenson also won the 100 backstroke.

Pleasant Valley finished 2nd.

Johnston had their best finish ever, taking 3rd behind 2 individual titles from Lexi Horner.

Waukee finished 4th, Ankeny 5th, Valley 6th.

Alyssa Fluit of Southeast Polk capped off her great career with 2 more individual titles in the 200 and 500 freestyle.

Samantha Hedric of Newton won the 100 butterfly.
