Suspect in Waukee Homicide Arrested in Des Moines

WAUKEE, Iowa - The suspect in an overnight shooting death in Waukee was arrested Saturday afternoon in Des Moines.

Brendan McGuinness, 42, is being charged with first-degree murder in the death of Gino Risola.

Gino RisolaPolice responded to the 500 block of Southeast Carefree Lane at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. When police arrived on the scene they found Gino Risola, 41, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Risola was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

McGuinness was taken into custody at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon without incident.


This is the first homicide in Waukee since 1977.
