WAUKEE, Iowa – Drivers in the western suburbs of Des Moines will have a new option when traveling home from work Tuesday.
The new Grand Prairie Parkway Interchange will open at noon.
The construction on the $50 million dollar project in Waukee started two years ago
The complicated interchange is called a diverging diamond, which is the first time it’s been used in Iowa.
At the first stoplight before the interchange, drivers will move to the opposite lanes, then return to the normal side of the road after the second stoplights.
There will be plenty of signs posted at the intersection to help drivers understand the changes.
