Rain and Snow Winding Down, More on Tuesday

DES MOINES, Iowa – Rain and snow continue to lift north out of Central Iowa. A few remaining snow and rain showers may occur at times through the evening.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 PM Tuesday in northwest Iowa with a Winter Weather Advisory just south of there. Snow accumulated today in northwest Iowa

 

leading to mostly and partially snow covered roads. Totals as of 4 PM range from 2 to 4″ in Northwest Iowa. There was also some ice accrual as well. In Carroll and Webster Counties, a quarter inch of ice accrued on elevated surfaces and less-traveled roads.

 

Temperatures are in the upper 30s in the Des Moines Metro, as well as in southern and eastern Iowa tonight. Rain and snow will lift north out of the state tonight with a few remaining snow and rain showers this evening.

We aren’t done with the snow quite yet. A few more snow showers are possible on Tuesday as this area of low pressure moves away. The snow will develop on the back side of the storm system on Tuesday afternoon. Highs will be in the low 30s.

The rest of the week will be sunny and dry with seasonal temperatures back in the low 40s for daytime highs.
