Authorities Identify Victim in Suspicious Davis County Death Investigation

DAVIS COUNTY, Iowa — Authorities identified the victim in a Davis County suspicious death investigation.

Officials say deputies performed a welfare check at a residence at 12795 Highway 63 on Sunday. Inside, they found the body of 39-year-old Michael Thomas Goodwin, Sr., of Bloomfield.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday, but authorities are not releasing the cause of death at this time. Final autopsy results can take up to eight weeks to be completed.

No arrests have been made at this time, but authorities are calling the death suspicious.

The public is urged to call the Davis County Sheriff’s office at 641-664-2385 with any information.The Ottumwa Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
